Last week the Paper Angels Demonstrators had a number of demonstrator meetings at various times and locations. We were treated to a very special make and take, thanks to the efforts of Felicity Laritz, who designed and created this awesome ‘Dinosaur Diorama Card’. More than 30 demonstrators learnt how to create this awesome boy’s card. If you were unable to make the demonstrator’s meeting or are a long distance demonstrator, Felicity kindly created a PDF instruction sheet to share with Paper Angels Demonstrators. Please email me if you would like an instruction sheet.

We will base our next demonstrator meeting challenge on this card. So if you are a Paper Angels Demonstrator, you are invited to create and bring to the meeting, your version of this card or something inspired by this card. I have heard demonstrators talking about ‘fairy scenes’, ‘underwater scenes’ etc. You are only limited by your own imagination. Great prizes on offer plus the fun of sharing your ideas! Demonstrators unable to attend the meeting are welcome to post their entry to me.

If you are a customer who would like to learn to make this card, book a workshop and I will be happy to teach you this card as a complimentary make & take. Alternately, I will be sharing this card at Craft Group on Tuesday 15th May 10am at the Wynnum Manly Worker’s Club, Bognor St, Tingalpa.

Here are the dates and times for May | Southside Brisbane Meetings

The last couple of weeks I have been working on 3 scrapbook page designs that I taught at my recent classes, last Friday and Sunday. Having taught these pages twice now, I have been lucky enough to create 9 pages in total including my initial samples. I love this because I have been able to make real headway with 3 albums in a short space of time. Working with beautiful papers, such as Stampin’ Up!s ‘Attic Boutique’ make it easy to find treasured photographs amongst my collection that will coordinate. My next scrapbooking events will be on Friday 18th May and Sunday 20th May, with details being added to the events section of my website soon. Here are the results of my latest scrapbooking blitz.

With May being the perfect time to join as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, I thought I’d jot down some things you might not know about my life as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator as well as some things about Stampin’ Up! I hope that you read them and feel inspired to learn more about joining as a Demonstrator this month, with a member of the Paper Angels Team. We would like to invite fellow paper-craft enthusiasts from around Australia to join our fun and friendly community. I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts as well as learning something you may not have known!

25 Things you might not know about my Stampin’ Up! Life

When I first started, I had no sales experience

One of my first workshops had 18 people attending – eek!

I prefer small workshops where I get to know people

My children are actually jealous that I seem to have more friends than they do!

My Australian demonstrator number is 12

I still get nervous before workshops

I have been awarded the ‘Heart of Stampin’ Up’

I don’t like multi-level marketing terms, like ‘downline’

I have been in the ‘top 25′ demonstrators in Australia since it’s inception

I’m glad Stampin’ Up! Has dropped the ‘top 25′ ranking system

I can’t imagine my life without my Stampin’ Up! Friends

I was one of the first demonstrators to present a ‘Workshop Wow’ at Convention

I have presented at a Brisbane Regionals and the recent Melbourne Convention

I would still share and teach paper-craft even if it wasn’t my business

I think I learn as much from my customers as they do from me

I have earned 3 Incentive Trips (Palm Beach, Noosa and Hamilton Island)

My favourite Stampin’ Up! Colour is ‘Early Espresso’

I was a scrapbooker before I became a cardmaker

I can ‘make a difference’ doing something I love

Paper Angels’ Group of Independent Demonstrators, belongs to our team

I am extremely proud and protective of our team

Our team is made up of incredibly talented and generous people

The hardest thing about workshops is figuring out what not to demonstrate

Paper Angels have supported the Mater Footprints Program for over 5 years

I do not own every single stamp set, despite what my husband might tell you!

10 Things you might not know about Stampin’ Up!, the company

The Stampin’ Up! Statement of the Heart is actually heartfelt and not just empty words

People really are more important than products at Stampin’ Up!

Stampin’ Up! Is a debt free company

Stampin’ Up! Boast a number of environmental credentials

I have seen the Co-Founder and CEO of the company stacking chairs after Convention!

ALL the employees at Stampin’ Up! are incredibly nice people

Stampin’ Up! Provide heaps of opportunities for demonstrators to earn free product

Stampin’ Up! always look for ways to improve and have recently revamped the career plan

Stampin’ Up! Have won numerous industry awards, including CK’s best stamps plus more

Stampin’ Up! are strong supporters of charitable endeavours

I have been having a lovely time using ‘Attic Boutique’ Designer Series Paper! Stampin’ Up!’s coordinated products mean that I can create titles and accents to perfectly match. On this page I created a ribbon swap using the NEW Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon as well as a title accent using Pool Party & Calypso Coral Classic Inks. Interlocking mitered frames were created using the DSP.

I am running 2 classes in my home studio, where I will be teaching the 3 scrapbook pages I have uploaded using ‘Attic Boutique’ Designer Series Paper. Learn how to create ribbon swags, personalised accents and perfect mitered frames. Friday 4th May 10am-1pm OR Sunday 6th May 2pm-5pm. Class cost is $25 and you will complete 3 12×12 pages. Please bring your basic kit (adhesives, trimmer, scissors). Photos are not required as they may be added later. Bookings are essential and payment is preferred to secure your place. Contact me by email or phone 0448 896 001. Paper Angel Demonstrators are also welcome to attend either class and may supply their own materials – please email me for a materials list.

If you would like to receive your own copy of the NEW Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue featuring ‘Attic Boutique’ Designer Series Paper, Book a Workshop or Purchase Product; please contact your Paper Angels Independent Stampin’ Up!
For those of you that thought I was forgetting to upload the balance of the recent demonstrator swaps, fear not! – I will be sharing the work of all 30 participants. As you can imagine this takes a bit of time, although I seem to be on a roll tonight! It seems to be like a rolling feast of creativity – at least there’s no such thing as overindulging in inspiration.

Another big thank-you to ALL our creative participants, four of whom decided to showcase the ‘Mixed Bunch’ Stamp Set on page 21 of the current NEW Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue! What we all love about this stamp set, apart from the gorgeous design, is that you can purchase a COORDINATING PUNCH! Yes, we all love to NOT have to cut these sort of images out with scissors don’t we! Oops, double negative, but I’m sure you know what I mean!

Gaye used ‘Twitterpated Designer Series Paper’, which I haven’t covered yet but that is super gorgeous, whilst Alice used a striking combination of Island Indigo with Real Red, and Jen made each of us am individually monogrammed card – neat idea! I’m loving card number 4 but I have no name on the back of the card, so if you are the designer, drop me an email and I’ll edit this post.

If you would like to know how to make any of these cards, receive your own copy of the NEW Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue, Book a Workshop or Purchase Product; please contact your Paper Angels Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator who sent you this link, or if I am your demonstrator or you would like to find a demonstrator who can help you, please contact me on 0448 896 001 or email liz@craftclassroom.com

This post entry is dedicated to my lovely hostess Cindy, who shared with me how great ‘Air Dry Clay’ is to stamp in. This brings me to mention, that as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, workshops are a great source of ‘two way’ creative inspiration. Whilst I am there to teach and inspire, I always walk away from a workshop with new ideas, having enjoyed hearing what my customers are creating and the ideas that they have for Stampin’ Up! products. I hope to get together with Cindy soon to create some more ‘Air Dry Clay Tags’, however in the meantime, I just had to have a go!

I have a special stamp, which I purchased at last year’s Stampin’ Up! Convention in Melbourne. The stamp has a wonderful sentiment ‘Love what you do, Share what you Love’. I thought this would look fantastic on a white clay tag, hanging from my ‘Upcycled’ jars which have been turned into fancy tool holders. I have lined each of the jars with ‘Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper’ as well as an inner lining of OHP (overhead projector plastic) to keep the inside neat – Goodness that sounds a bit OCD and I assure you, I am anything but!

Imagine having a gorgeous tag on your favourite tool jar! This week, I will be creating a bunch of these tags to share with my Paper Angels Demonstrator Friends. So, if you would like to book a workshop in May, you will receive one of these gorgeous tags.

If you would like to Book a Workshop please contact your participating Paper Angels Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator who sent you this link, or if I am your demonstrator or you would like to find a demonstrator who can help you, please contact me on 0448 896 001 or email liz@craftclassroom.com

Here’s one of my latest scrapbooking layouts, I wanted to share with you. The NEW ‘Attic Boutique’ product suite in the current Australian Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue is my FAVOURITE Designer Series Paper ever! Perhaps it’s the ‘Vintage Appeal’ or it’s versatility or simply the gentle colours? Either way, I can see myself using many packets of this most gorgeous and special double sided paper.

I took some inspiration from Heritage Scrapbooking Designs I taught some years ago, however, I have changed quite a few elements, including creating my NEW obsession, ‘Ribbon Swags’. Don’t you think they look sweet? They are easier to make than bows and are just something a little different.

The roses on the tags were created by cutting these from the ‘Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper’, whilst the title ‘Here’s to You’ was stamped in ‘Sahara Sand Classic Ink’ to perfectly coordinate with the papers. This word stamp comes from a super little word stamp set called ‘Friendly Phrases’.

If you would like to know how to create perfectly coordinated scrapbook pages easily, receive your own copy of the NEW Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue, Book a Workshop or Purchase Product; please contact your Paper Angels Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator who sent you this link, or if I am your demonstrator or you would like to find a demonstrator who can help you, please contact me on 0448 896 001 or email liz@craftclassroom.com

A NEW stamp set ‘Tea Shoppe’ has already been admired by many who have seen the NEW Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue, including two demonstrators who created their swaps using this gorgeous set.

Shelagh went as far as creating an amazing display for her swaps, complete with cupcakes! In particular, I loved the way Shelagh used the ‘Elegant Lines’ Embossing Folder to create the steam rising from the tea cup (I never would have thought of that! So clever!). I can’t imagine how long it took to cut out 30 cups by hand, but sufficed to say, we all appreciated the effort!

Debbie created her tea cup card with a really striking colour combination of ‘Tangerine Tango’ and ‘Rich Razzleberry’, which caught my eye the minute I opened the post bag these swaps arrived in! Instead of using the handle of the tea cup, Debbie chose to use ‘Swirls Scribbles’ Sizzlit Die from page 158 of the current Australian Idea Book & Catalogue to recreate the handle.

Both Shelagh and Debbie used the new ‘Labels Collection Framelits Dies’ to complete their cards, which are just the most wonderful NEW die addition to the Big Shot Family. Not only do they coordinate with ‘Apothecary Art’ Stamp Set on page 19 of the Mini Catalogue, but as you can see from Shelagh and Debbie’s wonderful cards, also stand alone as a great accent base.

This swap card, kindly created by Tuesday Craft Group, took inspiration from a design created by a US demonstrator, Dawn Olchefske www.DOstampingwithDawn.com , using the new ‘Packed for Everything Stamp Bundle’ as pictured. These stamps are also available separately in the Australian Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue for $16.95 each, or as a bundle for $50.95. These stamps are just perfect for ‘paper piecing’ or simply to create cute accents such as Dawn did in her original card. Special mention to our newest Tuesday Craft Group member, Pat, who diligently coloured 30 pinatas! A job very well done and much appreciated.

This next swap card created by Tuesday Craft Group, took inspiration from a card featured in ‘Stamping and Papercraft’ Magazine. Sadly, I cannot lay my hands on the issue, so am unsure as to the designer. Having said that, there have been changes to the design to use the NEW very useful ‘Loving Thoughts’ Stamp Set, as well as ‘Twitterpated DSP’. There are also some NEW colours in the lovely ‘Bakers Twine’ in the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue.

Lastly, Tuesday Craft Group have used the same word stamp ‘Loving Thoughts’ to create this cool card. We found a black and white image photographed as part of a display at a US event, so we are unsure of the origins and colours of the design, although it is likely to have been created by Stampin’ Up!s Art Department. We love how the NEW ‘Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies’ have been layered upon each other to create a border.

Let’s start our Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue Swap with one of my favourite cards that Craft Group ‘CASED’ (copy and share everything) from Stampin’ Up!’s Co-Founder and CEO, Shelli Gardner. I love vintage as well as texture and Shelli created this card for a US event, which was photographed by a demonstrator and popped up on-line somewhere. I thought this would be a great card for Craft Group to make for the card swap, because it used 4 great new products from the Autumn Winter Mini catalogue. Namely, the most gorgeous ‘Apothecary Art’ Stamp Set coordinating with our new fabulous ‘Framelits Labels Collection’ Dies, as well as ‘Twitterpated DSP’ and the NEW ‘Simply Scored Scoring Tool’. The NEW scoring tool is just wonderful and allowed us the make 30 medallions with relative ease!

Imagine impressing your friends with this super elegant card! If you would like to know how to make this card, contact your Paper Angels Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator who sent you this link, or if I am your demonstrator or you would like to find a demonstrator who can help you, please contact me on 0448 896 001 or email liz@craftclassroom.com

The big task of photographing and uploading our latest Demonstrator Card Swap begins over Easter. I wanted to start by saying a special super big thank-you to my Tuesday Craft Group for making an invaluable contribution to this event. The task of the NEW Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue Card Swap was a big one, with 30 demonstrators participating. However, life being as it is, we had a small number of demonstrators who were unable to participate, with a couple ending up in hospital!

Luckily Tuesday Craft Group are a totally awesome group who, when approached, were happy to help create FOUR lots of swaps – yes, if your maths is correct, you will realise we had 120 cards to make! Talk about a positive attitude, with the ladies expressing that it was fun to learn new techniques whilst making the cards.

So, the next post after this will feature the cards made by Tuesday Craft Group. We did create shameless copies of cool ideas we found online, because after all we were short on time making so many cards, so having a starting point rather than having to design them, was essential!

So a big thank-you to Zena, Kim, Ursula, Pat, Di, Glenda, Neri, Olga, Liz O and Soula for your magnificent efforts.

I started getting into paper craft shortly after starting my career as an Intensive Care Unit Social Worker. I find my ‘day job’ to be incredibly rewarding but trauma work can take its toll. Paper crafting has long been an effective and extremely enjoyable stress relieving activity. I will never forget the day that a colleague of mine introduced me to Stampin’ Up and invited me to a workshop run by my ‘up line’ lady, Dianna Jap. I was in ecstasy! Beautiful stamps, quality manufacturing, flawless presentation, COLOUR CO-ORDINATION, fun and friendship! The excitement led to a purchasing frenzy culminating in my eventual decision to become a hobby demonstrator. I love sharing my passion for creativity and paper craft with my son, my friends and colleagues. I love that my favourite hobby has led me to the incredible team of Paper Angels and the amazing work they do for the Mater Footprints Program. I love the ethos of Stampin’ Up and feel so welcome as a humble hobby demonstrator. I run occasional workshops from home and am not a big earner for the company. However, I feel just as much a part of the Paper Angels team, have as much support as I need and most importantly have LOADS of fun! If you’re in my area (inner Northside Brisbane) and might be interested in Stampin’ Up products (let’s face it, what’s not to like?!) or joining the Paper Angels, drop me a line on martha.druery@bigpond.com. It would be my pleasure to share Stampin’ Up joy with you! As I always say, “DIY is the new black”!

This week the Paper Angels participated in an Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue Card Swap, so that we can be inspired by heaps of neat ideas using the delicious product available in the NEW Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue, available Sunday April 1st. I will be sharing photographs of these cards over the weekend, however, in the meantime, I thought I would share 2 cards that Zena brought to show us. Of course we all teased Zena and asked why on earth she hadn’t made 30 for the swap(smile). The card below was also made by Zena using the same stamp set, which is kind of a secret until Sunday. I do have a workshop booked on Sunday, so those lucky ladies will be the first to see all the new products. Imagine enjoying a workshop in your home! Contact your Paper Angels Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator to book a workshop or if I am your demonstrator or you are looking for a demonstrator in your area, please contact me.

Introducing Zena Kennedy, a member of ‘Paper Angels Group of Independent Demonstrators’. Zena lives in Wellington Point, a suburb of Redland City, about 22km south-east of Brisbane. Zena shares her Stampin’ Up! story in her own words.

I love all types of crafts and find that being a Stampin Up demonstrator fills all my needs. I love sharing ideas, new techniques and encouraging friends and family who think they have “no creative talent” make something that they are so proud of. Before I retired part of my job was training people in Information Technology. There was no greater feeling than watching someone have that “light bulb” moment it made my day worthwhile.

Now not only do I get to be artistic every day, I also get the pleasure to be a creative teacher. I have always used Stampin Up products so it was an easy transition from customer to Independent Demonstrator. I love the fact that I do not have to be a sales person. I can just let people “play” and the products sell themselves. For me, I get discounted products, meet new friends especially all the Paper Angels it is these things that make me happy and not the earning potential. It is wonderful being a part of a company that inspires my creativity without the pressure of selling their products. That’s why I became a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator!

Also as I happen to be a bit of a greenie it was great to find out that Stampin Up is environmentally friendly. They grind up the excess rubber and it is used at Courage Reigns (http://www.couragereins.org/) among other places. It has been donated to a number of parks and schools and it is one of the best playground beddings to be found anywhere.

The wood used to make the wood blocks comes from tree farms, where trees are grown, harvested, and replanted.

Stampin Up offices were built with the environment in mind. They use geothermal heating/cooling and make extensive use of natural lighting, the distribution centre was built into the ground to reduce its profile in the surrounding area, natural landscaping was utilized on much of the property. They also have a recycling program for paper, plastics, and aluminum cans.

So there you go great products, fantastic friends and Liz is the best mum a middle child could ask for, LOL. Scratching your head about that last statement? Then come join the Paper Angels and you will find the answer:)

Introducing Anna Wheaton, a Paper Angels Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast. Burleigh Waters is situation between Surfers Paradise and Tweed Heads. Anna shares her Stampin’ Up! story for us, in her own words.

I joined Stampin’ Up in the beginning of 2008. My sister had been to a party, bought the catalogue and told me about it. We had both been making cards for years and the products she described sounded exciting. Once I had a catalogue in my hand, I felt as though Stampin’ Up had been through my brain and created a list of products tailor made for me. I loved everything and kept flipping through the catalogue again and again as my wish list grew longer. I signed up with the Paper Angels thinking I would try a few parties for a little while and see if I could pay my kit off and last out a quarter. I got enough bookings to keep me active and I was able to tick off my wish list items at a discount. But then I kept going, past that first quarter because it was all so much fun.

Before having my son, I had been a full time high school teacher, and once he was in school, I reached that point that most mums do. Do I return to work? Can we afford it if I don’t work full time? Am I still a Stay-at-Home-Mum? What is my next step? Then I realized that perhaps the answer was right in front of me. Why not put more effort into the Stampin’ Up business which is entirely flexible so that I can still help out at my son’s school and attend his events but still earn some money?

I now run classes from home and have expanded my customer base so that I am getting regular party bookings and slowly building my team. My customers are now my friends who pop in for classes or when they have a question about a new product or technique. I love that being a Stampin’ Up demonstrator is part of my identity.

I have earned plenty of free and discounted products over the years and am always amazed at the new products which come out with every new catalogue. The Paper Angels and SU! offer plenty of advice and encouragement and the SU! events are so creatively wonderful. Once you have been to one, you’ll want to go to them all! And as far as investing in a small business goes, the Starter Kit is a no risk commitment.

I am so glad I signed up back in 2008 and have not looked back. I look forward to more parties, more classes and more SU! events.
