Continuing our profiles of members of the Paper Angels Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Team, I’d love to introduce you to Felicity, who is a demonstrator from Redland Bay in the Redland Shire, 40 minutes South East of Brisbane– here’s Felicity’s story in her own words
My first love of Stampin’ Up! products began when a friend of mine, Jen, invited me to attend a workshop that she was having. She showed me the catalogue, and I asked if I could borrow it to see what it was all about. By the time I had finished flicking through the pages there were what seemed like hundreds of things scrawled onto my wish list! I couldn’t wait to go to her workshop.
When I got there, the demonstrator started to explain about what a workshop entailed and how easy it was to have one at your own home and invite friends for a spot of crafting while earning some free Stampin’ Up! products; I don’t think I let her finish talking before I announced that I would like to have one!
My playgroup friend Kate came to that workshop, primarily to socialise, as she never liked the idea of party plan and the thought of buying something or booking a party just to ‘help the hostess’. (Luckily, Stampin’ Up! workshops are not like that, as hostesses get their bonuses without the pressure of having on-bookings made). But she actually booked a workshop herself and ended up joining Stampin’ Up!
After my fourth or fifth workshop I realised I should have done the same thing, and so in Feb 2008 I bit the bullet, signed up under Kate and became a demonstrator.
As part of the Paper Angels team we get together once a month, where we share ideas, show things we have made and then make an item as well. It’s a great chance to catch up with the other ladies (and man!) in the team, but there is never any sales talk or pressure to attend.
I love demonstrating at workshops as I get to share all the cool things that we can make using the products, and I try to have three bookings a month. I also hold regular classes and organise an annual craft weekend with some of the lovely ladies in my group of crafters.
Really, Stampin’ Up! has taken my life in a direction I could never have imagined; I make extra money through the generous commission, I get to see and buy the new products before regular customers and I get to go to the cool events that Stampin’ Up! hold, like Convention and Regionals. But most of all I have made some amazing friends.
By the way, my wish list is still as long as ever!
