Just had to share this oh so cute photo of my daughter holding a special visitor to our Wednesday night Paper Angels Meeting. Onaki is Ursula’s sweet puppy, who came sporting pink angel wings as you do! If you know Ursula, you wouldn’t expect anything else. Onaki’s mum, Cherry is actually another Paper Angels member (Felicity)’s dog.

So, what did we get up to in our meeting? One fun & interesting component was hearing all about Rebecca Ross’s plans for her Hostess Appreciation Night. She showed us some gorgeous projects, which will stop us sleeping at night until we make them! We also reported on various charities that we have been helping and what the latest updates were. Jenny Wells brought along a letter from Kim Walter’s acknowledging the ‘Hope and Strength Event’ donation of over $1,100. I spoke about an email I had received from Mater Volunteer Services, who have been sharing scrapbooking kits we donated with sick children via hospital craft volunteers. Kate reported on a friend’s child who has been the recipient of one of these kits, which are also being made available via ‘Radio Lollipop’. We acknowledged the great support we get from Stampin’ Up! for these charitable endeavors as well as touching on some early planning for our Christmas Card Workshops in October.

We made 2 make and takes (not pictured – I’m all photographed out!) and shared our ‘Home Decor’ Challenge entries.

I made 3 of these canvas clocks for the Home Decor Challenge winners.

Jen and Keren made some super tissue box surrounds

Bec made a Stampin’ Up! tag line inspired banner. You can tell how impressed she was that i was taking a photo! Still, wish I looked that good in photos, which is why I like being behind the camera.

Fiona made a gorgeous ‘Hair Accessory’ holder/display for her daughter – how lucky is she!

Jen made this really striking frame using strips of torn ‘Patterns Designer Series Paper’.

Dianna shared a gorgeous vase complete with blooms she had made. How clever to use the steel rule alphabet to create words on the vase!

Felicity made a scented sachet by cutting non slip mat with the Top Note Steel Rule Die. Apparently she just used craft glue to adhere the panels together – my kind of sewing! Actually that’s not quite true – I can, and do like sewing but honestly, don’t we sometimes like some quick ideas? I know I do.

I had heard about this stuff but our wonderful Keren showcased ‘coloured foil’, which you can purchase in gold or purple in the supermarket. Keren adhered the foil to cardstock and then embossed it using the ‘Vintage Wallpaper’ Embossing Folder and Big Shot. I just love the glittered butterflies all encased in a frame.

Felicity created this mirror and if you look carefully, you will see some demonstrators attempting to hide so their reflection wasn’t caught on camera. I don’t know how long this took Felicity but I’m thinking it would have taken quite some time and thought. How about the stamping on the mirror – I believe that was white staz on, which is still available to order although it doesn’t appear in the catalogue.

Our next Paper Angels meeting is Saturday 27th August 2pm for a 2.30pm start. This meeting will be a little different from our usual meetings, with the theme being ‘Dessert Party’. Since we will be right between saying goodbye to retiring catalogue items, as well as welcoming new ones, it seemed like a good reason for a party. We will have a number of demonstrations (so far we have myself, Bec and Dianna but I’d love to have some more volunteers to simply show a favourite project or technique) as well as our challenge, which will be Stampin’ Up! and food. Show us how creative you can be incorporating your Stampin’ Up! products into actual food or into food presentation/packaging. As asual there will be great prizes and even if you dont submit an entry, you will get lots of inspiration by coming along. Lastly, it would be great if everyone could bring a plate of food to share. The normal $5 cost to cover make & takes and catering will be waived for August.

Paper Angel demonstrators are also invited to bring guests to this meeting. Lets face it, when you see the new catalogue, you will want to become a demonstrator because your wish list will be so huge. Imagine starting off the new catalogue getting a discount on everything you order as well as having the opportunity to self fund those purchases and even make extra money. The biggest bonus, however, will be the lovely people you will meet and interact with as a demonstrator. We would love to have you as a guest at our ‘Dessert Party’. If you are looking for friends, creativity, the ability to make a difference, a business opportunity or just an outlet to escape and have some fun – why postpone these benefits! If you come along to check out our meeting, you are under no obligation to join.
