There is creative inspiration all around us everyday and this post is all about a little snapshot of inspiration I had when shopping with my friend Ursula. To be honest we were really window shopping and doing the coffee/chat get together, but I was taken with a little tea pot which features Red Riding Hood. I immediately could see that punch art would be the perfect way to replicate this cute little image. So I went about recreating her, with the owl punch (hood trimmed and body), scallop square (legs trimmed), heart (arms) and various circle punches (face, hair & basket). I also had visions of using the stamp set ‘Trendy Trees’ to recreate the trees and putting a card together. I never quite got that far (yet), but have created a few pencil toppers, which have been well received by adults and children. There are so many ideas for punch art apart from the huge library of on line images. Children’s books, colouring pages, flowers and even stamp sets can be great springboards for your imagination. I love my hand held punches as they can be used in so many different ways, as well as helping me use all my scrap cardstock. My best tip for punches is to keep them in a sealed box and USE them! Left unused and exposed to the elements (seems possibly worse in coastal areas), they seem to oxidize and get a build up that can affect the performance of the punch. Punches are a great investment but choose ones that are versatile and can be used in lots of different ways to get best value from your purchase.

I really love punch art and this little red riding hood will be added to my list of ones to try. I think you will have to set up a gallery of punch art Liz:)
